In 2019, Just-A-Start (JAS) broke ground on the Squirrelwood project in The Port neighborhood. Squirrelwood encompasses both the rehabilitation of the 45 existing units at Linwood Court and the 20 units at Squirrel Brand, as well as the new construction of 23 units at Linwood Court. The 88 units include all unit sizes, from studios to 5-bedrooms. There are several tiers of affordability at Squirrelwood, including housing for extremely low-income households (under 30% AMI), low- and moderate-income households (30%-60% AMI), and moderate-income households (60%-100% AMI). The project will remain affordable in perpetuity.

The new construction was designed to meet the highest energy efficiency and sustainability standards, creating a comfortable living environment and low utility bills for residents.

Rehabilitation and construction were completed in 2021. No further updates will be made to this project page. 

The property includes: 

  • 88 affordable rental units, including 3 studio, 26 one-bedrooms, 40 two-bedrooms, 38 three-bedrooms, 2 four-bedrooms, and 2 five-bedrooms; all of which are affordable in perpetuity
