Tobin School Fields Open to the Public

The new soccer field and baseball/softball diamond at the Tobin Montessori and Darby Vassall Upper Schools Community Complex opened on Monday, September 14, 2026. 

As the fields continue through the establishment process, the City and its landscape contractor will continue working to bring the grass height down to the specified maintenance height. As the grass is gradually cut to the appropriate height, residents may notice some temporary browning of the grass. This is a normal part of the process as the established sod is transitioned to its regular mowing height and is not a cause for concern.

The fields will be open for use while this work continues. Please help us maintain the condition of the new fields by following all posted field-use requirements and avoiding use when field conditions are wet or saturated.

If you'd like to reserve a field, please fill out our Athletic Field Permit Request Form here. Permits are required for use of any City of Cambridge athletic fields. Fields can be used for a variety of athletic activities, and non-athletic activity requests will also be considered.
