Ahern Field and Playground to Close for Soil Sampling on November 2

Aerial map showing location of Ahern Field and playground

As part of an ongoing construction project, the City’s consultant, CDM Smith, will be collecting soil samples within Ahern Field and playground.

The work will take place on Monday, November 2, and is expected to have minimal impact on the community. Ahern Field and the adjacent playground will be temporarily closed while sampling is conducted. The closures will occur in sections as work progresses throughout the space.

A Geoprobe will be used to collect shallow soil samples, up to approximately 3 feet below the ground surface. Any holes created during sampling will be repaired at the end of the workday.

What should I expect during this work?

  • Work will take place on Monday, November 2.
