Tim Flaherty

Tim Flaherty is an experienced trial lawyer with three decades of courtroom experience and hundreds of jury trials to verdict. He has successfully defended and tried multiple complex healthcare fraud, political corruption, and white-collar crime cases in federal court, including those in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the Eastern District of New York. 

In addition to his criminal litigation practice, Councillor Flaherty has tried a range of civil matters, including tort, contract, and civil rights. He has also advised individuals and nonprofits in emerging and disruptive industries on regulatory issues, including licensing, permitting, business organization, and corporate compliance. He was an adjunct professor at the Carroll School of Management at Boston College and has lectured and participated in programs of clinical instruction and continuing professional education at MCLE, Harvard Law, Northeastern, Suffolk, and New England. 

A North Cambridge native, Councillor Flaherty is a graduate of Boston College High School, Boston College, and Boston College Law School, where he earned the Oliver Wendell Holmes Medal and was named Best Oral Advocate. A longtime youth mentor and coach, he has spent decades supporting inner-city students through basketball and baseball programs in the Boston Archdiocese CYO and the (WCLBL) West Cambridge Little Baseball League.

A lifelong Democrat and active participant in state politics, he lives in West Cambridge with his wife and son.
