Small Business Programs - Stories and Impact

The Economic Opportunity and Development Division is committed to building an inclusive and sustainable Cambridge economy. The Division is responsible for a wide range of activities designed to meet the City's needs for a vibrant, innovative, diverse, and thriving economic base that ensures economic opportunity for all. 

The Division provides a variety of small business programs in the area of technical assistance, trainings/workshops, grants, and other resources. Click here for detailed information on each program, including eligibility requirements.

Events and Activation

In FY25, CDD offered the Boosting Business Blocks, Cambridge Plays, and Cambridge NITES programs, all designed to activate and energize Cambridge commercial districts.

Boosting Business Blocks funded for six (6) programs in Central Square, East Cambridge, Harvard Square, Huron Village and Observatory Hill, Kendall Square, and North Mass. Ave./Porter Square.

Cambridge Plays funded fifteen (15) events throughout Cambridge commercial districts and parks.

Cambridge NITES awarded $19,950 for six (6) events in Central Square, East Cambridge, Harvard Square, Inman Square, and Porter Square.
