The City of Cambridge supports supplier diversity as a way for diverse businesses (minority-owned / LGBTQ+ owned / disability-owned / veteran-owned / woman-owned) to grow and succeed. Winning contracts can help diverse businesses access new markets, gain new customers, and build relationships with large buyers. Cambridge benefits from a diverse supplier pool because it promotes competition which can reduce costs while improving the quality of the goods and services we buy.
Responding to bids and winning contracts can be difficult for underutilized businesses who experience special challenges in obtaining financing, getting certified, and marketing. To help, we have designed annual of events to help prepare diverse businesses to respond to bids and win contracts.
On Monday, October 20, 2025, the City of Cambridge hosts a Supplier Diversity Fair with buyers from every City Department including the School Department, Public Works, Human Services and more.
