Help Shape the Future of Cambridge Open Data

The City of Cambridge is updating its Open Data Program’s Strategic Plan for 2026-2028—and we want your input!

We’ve launched a short public survey to learn what matters most to you when it comes to open data. Whether you're a longtime data user, a curious resident, or a researcher with deep technical experience, your voice can help shape how we prioritize our work over the next three years.

About the Survey

The survey should take less than 5 minutes. It includes questions about how familiar you are with Cambridge’s open data, what kinds of priorities you think we should focus on (like publishing more datasets, using AI responsibly, or hosting public workshops), and space to suggest your own ideas. If you work with data professionally, there’s an optional expert section with a few more detailed questions. But no matter what your level of data expertise, we want to hear from you!

Note: The survey is open now through August 31, 2025.

Why now?

The Cambridge Open Data Program was one of the first of its kind when it launched over a decade ago. As we plan for the next three years, we're reflecting on what’s worked, what’s changed, and what our community needs from open data today. New technologies like Generative AI are rapidly reshaping how data is used and understood, adding urgency and new possibilities to our planning. We’re especially interested in hearing from a wide range of voices—from residents who’ve never used the portal to civic tech developers, public health researchers, and neighborhood advocates.

Your input will directly influence the updated strategic plan we’ll release later this year.
