Upcoming Green Street Garage Closures and Entry Changes Due to River Street Reconstruction Project

Starting Wednesday, November 5, the Green Street Garage will be closed to hourly parkers due to construction related to the River Street Reconstruction Project. This closure is expected to last to Friday November 7.

Monthly parkers, including passholders and vehicles with hang tags, will still have access, but should prepare for changes to the entry/exit and payment process. Beginning November 520, hang tag users must pay the daily parking rate at the cashier booth before returning to their vehicle

The garage entrance will move to 217 Franklin Street. Monthly parkers should pay close attention to posted signs and ongoing updates throughout this period.

Wednesday, November 5Friday, November 7

What to Expect:

  • The garage will close to hourly and daily parkers.
  • Monthly parkers and city employees with hangtags will still be permitted.
  • All monthly parkers must enter and exit at 217 Franklin Street, as the entry/exit on Green Street will be inaccessible. While exiting, parkers must follow close direction of garage staff, Cambridge Police Department, and posted traffic signage. There may be direction changes and detours on exit.
  • All hangtag holders must stop at the garage office to pay the $2 fee before going to their vehicles. You may pay with cash or with credit card, and you will receive a pass to show at the exit on Franklin St.

We thank you for your patience during this time. If you have questions, please contact the Department of Transportation at 617-349-4700 or call the Green Street Garage office at 617-349-4758.
