Cambridge Fourth of July Weekend Traffic Impacts: July 4 –July 7

The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of multiple temporary street closures throughout Fourth of July weekend due to several large community events. These include the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, the Fourth of July Weekend Block Party and Vintage Market, and the US Army’s 250th Birthday celebration.

Traffic impacts and street closures are expected throughout the weekend across Cambridge. Please follow all posted detour signage, plan ahead, and consider using alternative routes or modes of transportation.

 

Friday, July 4: Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular

  • Cambridge Street Closures:

  • Third Street: Broadway to McGrath/O’Brien Highway

  • Ames Street: Main Street to Memorial Drive

  • Amherst Street: Ames Street to Wadsworth Street

  • Wadsworth: Main Street to Memorial Drive

  • Galileo Way: Broadway to Third Street

  • Broadway: Third Street to Longfellow Bridge

  • Main Street: Broadway to Ames Street

  • Time of Closures:

  • 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM

  • Parking Impacts:

  • Per Mass State Police, no parking at the following locations from 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM:

  • Memorial Drive (either side) from Mass Ave to the Longfellow Bridge

  • Cambridge Parkway

  • Magazine Beach/Pool, Riverside Boat Club (769 Memorial Drive) or MWRA Pumping Station at Magazine Beach

Saturday, July 5: Fourth of July Weekend Block Party and Vintage Market

  • Road Closures and Impacts:

  • Central Square: Sidney Street between Franklin St and Pilgrim St

  • Time of Closures:

  • 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Monday, July 7: US Army 250th Birthday

  • Street Closures:

  • Appian Way at Garden St

  • Time of Closures:

  • 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
