What:
Beginning on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, and continuing through Sunday, September 7, 2025 (excluding Labor Day weekend), the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), in coordination with the City of Cambridge, will close two travel lanes of Memorial Drive between Hawthorn Street and Gerry's Landing Road to accommodate manhole repair work. These lanes will remain closed through the duration of construction and work may take place over extended hours. One eastbound lane and one westbound lane of this segment of Memorial Drive will remain open to traffic. Traffic, cyclist, and pedestrian patterns will be clearly marked. Pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to use the Paul Dudley White Bike Path to travel in this area and to use the crossings at Hawthorn Street and Gerry's Landing Road.
The City of Cambridge and DCR previously announced a right lane closure of Memorial Drive (westbound) between Hawthorn Street and Gerry's Landing Road due to structural concerns at 221 Mount Auburn Street (Riverview Condominium Building). Please visit this website for more information on this closure.
