Cambridge Traffic Impacts Expected for Spring Classic 5K on March 29

The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of street closures and travel impacts on Sunday, March 29, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to about 11:00 a.m. due to the Spring Classic 5K.

The race will start and finish at MIT’s University Park Commons (64 Sidney St). Please note that this year’s race will follow a new route – see the route map here for more information.

People traveling through the area should follow posted detour signage, plan ahead, and consider using alternative routes or modes of transportation during this time.

The Cambridge Police and MIT Police will be providing detail police officers to assure the safety of the runners. For questions or concerns, please contact Paul Clark at pvclark@yahoo.com.

Sunday, March 29: Cambridge Spring Classic 5K

• The following roads will close during the race:
  • Sidney St from Franklin St to Pacific St, closed from 9:00-10:30
  • Franklin St, closed from Brookline St to Sidney St from 9:00-10:15
• Time of Closures:
  • 9:00 AM ~ 11:00 AM
• Expect traffic impacts, but no closures, along the rest of the route. Expect to see runners on:
  • Mass Ave from Sidney St to Amherst St 9:30-9:42
  • Amherst St from Mass Ave to Vassar St 9:32-9:47
  • Vassar St from Amesbury St to Mass Ave 9:37-9:55
  • Waverly St from Reardon St to Putnam Ave 9:37-9:57
  • Putnam Ave from Waverly St to Brookline St 9:37-9:58
  • Brookline St from Putnam Ave to Franklin St 9:38-10:00
  • Erie St from Brookline St to Albany St 9:39-10:02
  • Albany St from Erie St to Cross St 9:39-10:05
  • Cross St from Albany St to Landsdowne St 9:42-10:06
  • Landsdowne St from Cross St to Pacific St 9:43-10:07
  • Pacific St from Landsdowne St to Brookline St 9:44-10:09
