Cambridge Weekend Traffic Impacts: Street Closures Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31 for Community Events

The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of multiple temporary street closures throughout the weekend due to scheduled community events on Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31.  Events include the Port Arts Festival, Harvard Square's MayFair, and the CambridgeSide 5K. 

Traffic impacts and street closures are expected throughout the weekend across Cambridge. Please follow all posted detour signage, plan ahead, and consider using alternative routes or modes of transportation.

Saturday, May 30 from 8 AM - 7 PM: Port Arts Festival and Mural Masters Competition

  • Street Closure:

  • Windsor Street between Harvard Street and Main Street

  • Time of Street Closure: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

  • Rain Date: May 31

Sunday, May 31 from 6 AM - 8 PM: 41st Annual MayFair

  • Street Closures:

    •  JFK Street from Mt Auburn Street to the Super Crosswalk

    • Brattle Street from Super Crosswalk to Appian Way

    • Entire length of Church Street

    • Massachusetts Avenue from Super Crosswalk to Garden Street (inbound only)

    • Mt Auburn Street from Eliot Street to JFK Street

    • Eliot Street from Brattle Street to Mt Auburn Street

  • Time of Street Closures: 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM

  • Rain Date: June 7

Sunday, May 31 from 7 AM – 12 PM: CambridgeSide 5K Road Race

  • Street Closure:

  • First Street from Cambridge Street to Binney Street

  • Time of Closure: 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

  • The following streets, while open, may see some delays: Binney Street from First Street Third Street (10:00 am-10:07 am), Third Street from Binney Street to Main Street (10:03 am-10:10 am), Main Street from Third Street to Windsor Street (10:05 am-10:15 am), Windsor Street from Main Street to Cambridge Street (10:07 am-10:20 am), Cambridge Street from Windsor Street to First Street (10:10 am-10:35 am)
