Cambridge Fourth of July Weekend Traffic Impacts and Street Closures

 

Friday, July 3: Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular

  • Traffic Impacts and Closures (Boston Only):
    • Esplanade walkway from Community Boating
    • Oval area closed for Pops rehearsal
    • No parking Mugar Way until 6:00 AM July 5th
    • Storrow Dr. East and West from Charles Circle to the Bowker Overpass at 3:00 PM
    • Berkeley St. at Beacon Street - Back St. traffic directed to Storrow West

Saturday, July 4: Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular

  • Street Closures (Including Boston and Cambridge):

  • 7:00 AM-9:00 AM Storrow Dr. West bound from Leverett Circle

  • 7:00 AM-9:00 AM Storrow Dr. East bound from the Bowker Overpass

  • 4:00 PM Memorial Dr. West bound from the Longfellow Bridge

  • 4:00 PM Memorial Dr. East bound from the BU Bridge

  • 4:00 PM All side streets in Cambridge leading to Memorial Drive including:

    • All of the Kendall Square & MIT Area: Main St, Third St, First St, Binney St, Vassar St, Mass Ave, Ames St, Amherst St Wadsworth St, Land Blvd, Memorial Dr, Cambridge Pkwy

  • 4:00 PM Mass Ave. bridge and Longfellow closed to vehicles

  • 8:00 PM Mass Ave. and Longfellow closed to pedestrians

  • Time of Cambridge Closures:

  • 4:00 PM – 2:00 AM

  • Main roads are expected to reopen by midnight.

  • Wadsworth Street, Ames Street, Massachusetts Avenue, and Vassar Street will remain closed until street sweeping is complete, with all roads expected to reopen by 2 a.m. at the latest.
