Recruit Firefighter Training in Progress

Five Cambridge FFOPs (Firefighters on Probation) are attending the intense, 10-week Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Recruit Training Program at the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services Stow campus. They are enrolled in Class 336.

Graduation date is planned for February 13. 2026. Following graduation and national certification to the Firefighter I/II level, they will be deployed to Cambridge Fire Companies.

As always, thank you to the Fire Academy instructors and staff for sharing the knowledge and experience.

Photos show some of the hands-on activities on Training 10, Friday, December 12, 2025. It was a cold & windy training day!
Following a classroom lecture in the morning, all recruit firefighters rotated through the various training skills in the afternoon. Recruit firefighters practiced roof ladder deployment; hose line movement and management in the training tower building; and aerial ladder ops and deployment, including stabilization, raising, rotating, and extending.
