Camp Rainbow is an annual summer camp serving Cambridge young people with disabilities, ages 6-22. Camp Rainbow's mission is to enhance the lives of its participants by providing a recreational experience that emphasizes their abilities. Camp Rainbow is offered by the Department of Human Service Programs' Recreation Division.
Participants enjoy a variety of experiences, including outdoor activities, swimming, arts & crafts, and cooking. Camp Rainbow takes field trips to local attractions (mini golf, bowling, zoos, farms, and more) every Wednesday of camp sessions.
Eligibility
- Must be Cambridge residents or children of City of Cambridge employees
- Must be ages 6 through 22 years old.
Deadline to apply is April 24, 2026. Applicants who submit their application by April 24 will be contacted for a fit assessment and notified of their placement in Camp Rainbow or on the waitlist by May 15.
2026 Camp Rainbow Information
Location: Cambridge Street Upper School, 840 Cambridge St.
Dates: Weekly sessions offered July 6 through August 14
Times: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (full-day) 12:30 – 3 p.m. (half-day)*
Cost: $60 per week for full-day attendance. $15 per week for half-day attendance.
*Half day enrollment is only available for students who are enrolled in the Cambridge Public Schools Extended School Year Comprehensive Program and Services
Transportation: Provided by Camp Rainbow. Pick-up and drop-off locations will be located at central locations near participants' homes and communicated by the Camp Director before each session.
