Qualifying Life Event

Benefits eligible employees can make changes to current health insurance coverage during Open Enrollment in the fall and spring, or due to a Qualifying Life Events (QLE). If you are making a change due to a QLE, it will require documentation and must be made within 30 days of the effective date of that event.

Here are some common examples of a Qualifying Life Event:

New hires within 30 days of start date of employment
Marriage
Birth, Adoption, Guardianship
Loss of Coverage
Children Aging off of Parent’s Plan
Divorce or Legal Separation
Change in Spouses Employment Status
Change in Benefits Eligibility Status (e.g. moving to more/fewer than 20 regularly-scheduled hours a week)
Relocation - Moving Out of Coverage Area
Death of a Dependent
