  Omo Moses Presents: The White Peril Book Launch (Main Library)

  In The White Peril, Omo Moses deftly interweaves his own life story with excerpts from both his great-grandfather’s sermons and the writings of his father, the civil rights activist Bob Moses. The result is a powerful chorus of voices that spans 3 generations of an African American family, all shining a light on the Black experience, all calling fiercely for racial justice. The book launch will include a panel discussion on the theme of family and movement moderated by Tony Clark, co-President of MBK Cambridge. Panelists include: Janet Moses, Omo Moses, Maisha Moses, Taba Moses, and Cambridge School Committee member, Richard Harding. This event is cosponsored by Cambridge Public Library and MBK Cambridge.   Sewing 101 (Main)

  Main Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

  In this 90-minute workshop, you’ll learn the basics of sewing machine operation and safety. This session will cover machine setup, basic functions, threading the machine, reloading the bobbin, sewing straight stitches, and recognizing when stitch tension has gone awry. We’ll also cover some safety best practices when operating a sewing machine. As we learn together, we’ll work on a simple sewing project—a drawstring bag—which most students will be able to complete by the end of the class. You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop.
