Description

The City of Cambridge and Transition House will be hosting their annual Domestic Violence Vigil to commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month and honor those lost to domestic violence in Massachusetts over the past year.

Vigil details:

  • Date & Time: Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
  • Location: Cambridge City Hall lawn, 795 Massachusetts Avenue
  • Rain date: Wednesday, October 20.

All community members are welcome. Local agencies will be on‑site providing survivor resources and information for the community.

In addition to the ceremony, The Silent Witness Exhibit will be on display throughout the day. The Silent Witness Exhibit is a visual memorial to victims of domestic violence, which honors their lives and raises awareness of the issue. The exhibit features life-size, silhouettes of victims, often with shields that display the stories of those they represent.

Throughout October, the City of Cambridge will launch a campaign to raise awareness on domestic violence, including:

  • Interactive display across the city
  • Relevant information and confidential resources on City's social media.

Resources are available for survivors and for people seeking help to change abusive behaviors.
