Description
Vibe Coding Cambridge Open Data
Tuesday, July 21, 2026, 6:00–7:30 PM via Zoom
Curious about "vibe coding"? Curious about Cambridge open data? Both? This workshop is for you. No coding experience required — our "programming language" will be English.
We'll use the Codex desktop app to explore Cambridge's open data portal: asking questions of real datasets, generating analysis, dashboards and explorers — even a game! — all in plain English. The goal is to give you a feel for what's possible when you combine AI coding assistants with a city's worth of open data.
We're using Codex because it's free to try (at least for now), easy to install on Mac and Windows, with an easy onramp but tremendous power if you want to go deep. The concepts transfer cleanly to other tools (Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, and so on), but we need to settle on one for everyone to follow along.
