Cambridge Postal Advisory Council

The United States Postal Service established the Cambridge Postal Advisory Council (CPAC) in 1991 to serve as a community resource in terms of offering the customers’ perspective on the nature and quality of mail delivery service and other postal services in the City of Cambridge.

CPAC’s primary goal is to monitor customer trends and field any complaints that may arise. In addition to serving as a vehicle for customer complaints, CPAC serves as a venue to assist the Post Office in the development and implementation of new programs.

Carrier Alert Program

The Carrier Alert Program is intended to assist the elderly (65 and older) who live in Cambridge. The Program is free, and it offers home bound adults an extra measure of personal security. It works by cooperation between the United States Postal Service and the Cambridge Council on Aging.

To join the program you will have to fill out an application form. You provide names of the family members or friends to be contacted in case of an emergency. The Cambridge Council on Aging keeps this information confidential and uses it only if there is an emergency. Your letter carrier will make sure you pick up your mail from your mailbox. If the mail stars to accumulate, the Letter Carrier will contact the Council on Aging. The Council on Aging will then get in touch with your contacts to see if assistance is needed.

To obtain an application form and more information, please call the Council on Aging at 617-349-6055, Someone will be able to discuss the Carrier alert Program with you to see if it is right for your and then send you an application form. Once you are enrolled in the program the Postal Service will be notified.
