National Consumer Protection Week March 5-11

The Cambridge Consumers’ Council will celebrate National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) from March 5-11, 2023. During NCPW, consumer groups nationwide share tips and information that help consumers protect their privacy, manage money and debt, avoid identity theft, and learn about the most recent frauds and scams.

The Cambridge Consumers’ Council invites the public to attend its information-sharing events during NCPW, which will be held on:

  • Tuesday, March 7, from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. at the Cambridge Senior Center, 806 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge; and
  • Friday, March 10, from 12 p.m.- 1 p.m. at Brandeis University, Waltham.

During these events, the public can meet the Council’s staff, obtain consumer self-help information and brochures, and learn about our free complaint resolution service. In addition, educational material on various consumer topics will be available, including scams, home improvement contracting, landlord/tenant rights, retail sales, and auto sales.

The Cambridge Consumers’ Council reminds residents of the importance of protecting documents containing their personal information from identity theft, whether by phone or online and learning steps to reduce your risks and how not to become a victim of a scammer.
