National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week April 9-15

Cambridge Emergency Communications Dispatch

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week April 9-15 honors the men and women responsible for dispatching police, fire, and emergency medical services to those in need. When it comes to emergency situations, dispatchers are the community’s first point of contact. Even when faced with the most difficult circumstances, telecommunicators must be calm and prepared, and must be able to maintain a positive attitude to help every frightened, distressed, or angry caller.

The Cambridge Emergency Communications Department will be celebrating our dispatchers with a weeklong celebration. We will also be recognizing employees as follows:

  • Melissa Carpenito, 2022 Police Dispatcher of the Year,
  • Bethany Morrissey, 2022 Fire Alarm Operator,
  • Erica Crane, 2022 Communications Training Officer,
  • Joseph Sullivan, 2022 Supervisor of the Year,
  • David Linehan, 2022 Emergency Medical Dispatcher of the Year.

Along with these special awards, the Department will be honoring others with Unit Citations and Life Saving Awards and hosting activities throughout the week to honor our dispatchers and the important role they play in emergency services for the City of Cambridge.
