Lead A Cambridge Plays Event This Summer

Cambridge Plays logo with text saying: "Enjoy live music, dancing, and other fun outdoor activities this summer"

We are now accepting event proposals for the 2026 Cambridge Plays grant program! We are looking for local businesses, artists, and nonprofits to lead outdoor events this summer.

Leading a Cambridge Plays event can help bring neighbors outside and build visibility for your business or organization. Selected proposals will receive up to $2,000 reimbursement for event supplies and staff time. We also waive the costs of applicable park permits and entertainment licenses. Events must be between June 1, 2026 and August 30, 2026. We will work with you to schedule the event at one of the outdoor locations listed in the application.

The purpose of Cambridge Plays is to encourage people to enjoy public spaces in our commercial areas and support Cambridge’s local businesses. Events must be welcoming to people of all ages and abilities. They should encourage people who are passing by to stay and participate.

There are two opportunities to apply this year:

  • Deadline 1: Events June 1 - August 30, 2026
    • Applications are due Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
  • Deadline 2: Events July 1 - August 30, 2026
    • Applications are due Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
