Cambridge Fire notes 20 years of Paramedic Service

We elebrate the 20th anniversary of the inception of Paramedic/Advanced Life Support by the Cambridge Fire Department. Paramedic service was initiated on May 1, 2005 with the establishment of Squads 2 & 4. Currently in 2025, Engine 1, Rescue 1, & Squads 2, 3, & 4 are our designated medic companies. (Every fire company in the city provides basic Emergency Medical care.) As part of our committment to provide the high level of EMS to our city, we also work alongside our partners of PROEMS.

For the past 20 years, Cambridge Fire has operated at the Paramedic level, providing the highest level of Emergency Medical Services. Our Paramedics are incorporated into all facets of our lifesaving mission, ensuring that we can provide that care in a living room or on the sidewalk, but also in a building collapse, an active shooter, or any other type of incident.
When a worldwide pandemic came, Cambridge Fire adapted and provided support to medical facilities, testing and vaccinations. Whatever the hazard the world has presented, Cambridge Fire EMS has been there, and we will continue to provide the best EMS care wherever and whenever it is needed.

In the calendar year 2024, Cambridge Fire Medic companies responded to more than 11,000 calls.

Thank you to all our Firefighter/Paramedics for their continued dedication!
