RIT Refresher Training

Fire companies have been participating in RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) skills review. Skills reviewed include SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus) harness conversion to rapidly rescue a "downed" firefighter; rescue via stairway; rescue via window onto a ladder; rescue drag via tubular webbing; & use of RIT SCBA Emergency Pack & CPR if needed.

Obviously, these are very physically and mentally demanding skills, skills we hope that we never have to use in real time to rescue a brother and sister firefighter.

Engines 3 & 5; Ladder 3; & Rescue 1 (group 3) are shown in the photos. Other companies will be rotating thru these skills in the coming weeks.

Special Thank You the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services/Fire Academy staff for sharing the skills & knowledge on site at Cambridge Station 3.
