Two alarms - Box 2-29 - 1264 Cambridge Street

Two alarms were ordered for the fire in the 4 story, brick & wood, multi residence at 1264 Cambridge Street. Arriving with heavy fire showing from the rear porches (accessed via Prospect Street), 1st-due Engine 5 used the pre-connect deck gun to knock down the heavy, overlapping fire, while advancing a 2 1/2" attack line with Squad 3.
Companies quickly established water supplies, stretched attack lines to the interior, completed searches for residents, and completed extinguishment.
All residents were evacuated safely and no injuries were reported. Eight adults & 2 children (no pets) were displaced by the Fire. American Red Cross assisted them in securing temporary housing.

 

The cause & origin were under investigation.

Thank you to our mutual aid partners, Arlington Fire, Boston Fire, Brookline Fire, Somerville Fire, and Watertown Fire for covering in Cambridge during the fire and responding to other ongoing, unrelated incidents in the city.

 

As always, thank you to the officers of Cambridge Police for the assist with traffic diversion and pedestrian safety. Thank you Pro EMS for the medical standby, Boston Sparks Rehab Unit A-10 for their response, and Cambridge Inspectional Services for the assist. 

Special thank you to the staff of Cambridge Emergency Communications for their seamless work under pressure, the timely movement of apparatus & comms at the fire, as well as movement of companies to other ongoing incidents in the city during the fire.
