High Point Anchor Rescue Training

On Monday, September 29th, Engine 3, Ladder 2, Squad 2, & Division 1 made time to review the high-point anchor rescue technique. This system could be used to quickly secure and lower an unconscious firefighter from an upper story to ground level.
In this scenario, the anchor setup & hauling system were secured to a 28' extension ladder. In some later evolutions, theatrical smoke was used with members in full PPE (personal protective equipment) and on SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus) air.

Firefighters rotated through the various positions during this hands-on review. A mannequin was used to simulate the unconscious member during the "rescue."

Group 2 was on duty.
