The Training Program of the week of November 17th included High-Rise Operations. All companies, all groups, rotated through this segment which included a review of the high-rise pack, high-rise pack deployment, fire stream management, use of the standpipe, hydraulics, in-building stationary fire pumps, high rise tactics & strategy, and much more.
Everyone had the opportuntiy to operate the attack line on a simulated fire in the building.
The current Engine Company High-Rise Pack includes two lightweight 75' lenghts of 2" attack hose, as well as nozzles, tools and appliances. The high rise setup also includes 3" supply line(s) to the FDC (Fire Department Connection) and a 2 1/2" thread to Stortz adapter as needed.
All members will be fully dressed in PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) with SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) during a high-rise operation.
There are numerous high-rise buildings in every district in the city. HIgh-rise firefighting skills can also be adapted for use in our subway transit system (deepest section of 150' below grade) and buildings with sub-cellars several stories below grade.
