Cambridge Recruit Firefighters complete Burn Training Day

Recruit Firefighter Training Day 41, February 2, 2026:

Our five Cambridge Recruit Firefighters participated in "Burn Day 6" on Monday, February 2, 2026, which is Training Day 41 of the 50 day Massachusetts Department of Fire Services Fire Academy Recruit Training Program at the Stow campus.
The evolutions included coordinated response from the "fire station" to multiple fires on multiple floors in the burn training building. Recruit firefighters, as fire companies, deployed attack lines to contain & extinguish the fire, searched for victims, forced entry as needed, ventilated and overhauled. They also deployed both ground and aerial ladders for ventilation, access, egress, search and rescue.
Recruit firefighters, during burn days, establish water supply via fire hydrant and operate the pump at the fire.

They will complete all tasks required to be nationally certified as a Firefighter I/II.
Graduation is scheduled for Friday, February 13th.

Thank you to the MA Department of Fire Services/ MA Firefighting Academy staff, especially the instructors, support, and engineering personnel for sharing the knowledge & experience - hands on!
