Fire Headquarters Reconstruction Update - March, 2026

Reconstruction of the Fire Headquarters building at 491 Broadway continues on schedule!
 
Photos from Thursday,  March 5, 2026 show the continuing progress.

 

Site work, as well as interior, exterior, and roof continues. Wallboard installation with final painting has been completed in many areas. Installation of interior mechanical systems, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, is ongoing. Most windows, all energy efficient, have been installed. The data center is complete and operational. 

 

This facility, the home of Engine 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Fire Prevention, Tech Services, PSIT, the Command Staff and Administrative Offices, was originally occupied in February of 1934. Reopening is planned for fall of 2026.
