Collage Workshop with Local Artist Elena Stone (O'Neill)
In stressful times, collage can be a powerful practice for well-being and resilience. Join local artist Elena Stone to create collages in a relaxing, fun, and reflective community setting. We will use simple materials and a lightly structured process to promote creativity and connection. Materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own collage papers (e.g. old magazines, calendars, wrapping paper, etc.) to share. Registration is encouraged but not required.
Time Out for Public Art Tactile Talks: Yerxa Road Underpass
Join us for a guided 30-minute Tactile Talk featuring artist Randal Thurston’s transformation of a once-dark tunnel into a welcoming passageway with painted steel silhouettes and textured tilework. CPL Nature Club: Danehy Park Winter Plant Walk (O'Neill)
Join herbalist Mo Katz-Christy for a meander through Danehy park to meet wintertime city plants and explore their medicinal uses! Felice Frankel presents: Phenomenal Moments: Revealing the Hidden Science Around Us (Main)
Harvard Book Store, the Harvard University Division of Science, the Harvard Library, and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Felice Frankel—award-winning science photographer and research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the department of Chemical Engineering—for a discussion of her first book for young adults, Phenomenal Moments: Revealing the Hidden Science Around Us. She will be joined in conversation by Melissa Franklin—the Mallinckrodt Professor of Physics and Director of Graduate Studies at Harvard University. Registration is required.

Join us for a guided 60-minute art tour featuring public artwork in East Cambridge and learn about how Cambridge Arts commissions and maintains art for public enjoyment. We will visit three public artworks, and two sidewalk poems. Meet at Centanni Park between the Multicultural Arts Center and the Middlesex South Registry of Deeds. This event is part of our Time Out for Public Art series in collaboration with Cambridge Arts. In October, these will be 60-minute art tours where we visit multiple sites as a group. CPL International Briefing: The Situation in Cuba with Professor Avi Chomsky (Main/Virtual)
What’s going on with Cuba and why? This presentation will examine the current crisis in relations between the United States and Cuba in historical context. The Trump administration has brought its own peculiar mix of his “Donroe Doctrine,” Pete Hegseth’s “warrior ethos,” Trump’s claim to be a “president of peace” to a long and troubled relationship with our Caribbean neighbor. The talk will look at the reasons for US enmity towards the Cuban Revolution and how the relationship has evolved in the post-Cold War era until today. Registration is required.
