The Conservation Commission is responsible for administration of the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act (WPA), a state law governing activities in and immediately adjacent to local wetlands, waterways and floodplains. The Commission holds two regularly scheduled public meetings each month to review permit applications under the WPA, issue permits and conduct other business related to the management of Cambridge’s natural resource areas.

Installing outdoor exercise equipment similar to the fitness stations along the Charles River in Boston at Danehy Park and three other Cambridge parks would provide a health benefit for the whole community.

The annual Cambridge Arts Open Studios will take place all across Cambridge on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 21 and 22, 2024, from noon to 6 p.m. each day. The citywide event celebrates all the creativity that is Cambridge. Shop for paintings, prints, clothing, ceramics, and all sorts of locally-made creations when you visit artists' studios and in group exhibitions in Common Venues throughout the city.

Purchased in July 2024, the Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) converted​16-18 Wendell Street, a dormitory previously owned by Lesley University, into 22 units of permanent supportive housing (PSH) to serve individuals and couples exiting homelessness in Cambridge. The 16-18 Wendell project was awarded annual funding for services from the Commonwealth through the Massachusetts Shelter and Housing Alliance’s (MHSA) Home and Healthy for Good program. There are four full-time service staff on site. In excellent and in near turn-key condition when purchased, the property began lease-up in Fall 2024, following the completion of some minor renovations to create new office space at the property.

On April 30, 2024, Governor Maura Healy signed into law “An Act Making Appropriations for the Fiscal Year 2024 to Provide for Supplementing certain Existing Appropriations and for Certain Other Activities and Projects.” Based on the changes made by this law, applications for alteration of premises to include an outdoor area that serves alcohol no longer need ABCC approval. These applications will now only need local board approval. The law requires that each local board establish a process by which these requests will be considered.

An annual celebration of the arts, featuring jazz, folk, indie, rock, and world music performances, dance, poetry, theater, art demonstrations, family art-making activities and over 100 specialty food purveyors and craftspeople.

Here’s your chance to try an instrument in a judgment-free zone that encourages exploration and excitement! After an introduction to the instruments, participants get a chance to bow a violin, blow a horn or tap out a rhythm on a drum. Recommended for children of all ages and their caregivers. The City of Cambridge, through its Community Development Department, is making available for public review and comment the draft of its FY2025 Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER), which includes its utilization of funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
