In response to community feedback and participation, the Cambridge Council on Aging will continue to offer programming for Cambridge adults age 60 and older at the Russell Youth and Community Center, 680 Huron Ave. Older adults are also invited to enjoy the Center’s Common Area on Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Every month we will read and discuss a short story as a group. For April we will be reading "The Locked Room" from Homesick for Another World by Ottessa Moshfegh. Copies of the story will be available for pick up at the Central Square Branch. Registration is helpful but not required!

Cambridge residents can be fingerprinted for gun permits, employment, security clearances, and immigration purposes at the Cambridge Police Department.

Join us for a lively discussion of a great book in person at the Main Library! Pizza will be provided. For ages 7-10 and a parent or caregiver. This month's book is Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume. Two is a crowd when Peter and his little brother, Fudge, are in the same room. Grown-ups think Fudge is absolutely adorable, but Peter and his pet turtle, Dribble, know the truth. From throwing temper tantrums to smearing mashed potatoes on the wall, Fudge causes mischief wherever he goes! Both caregiver and child should read the book before the discussion to participate. Registration is required — only one registration is needed per family. For a copy of the book, stop by the Children’s Room after you've registered. June Selection: Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line by Deepa Anappara A book discussion group for adults at the O'Neill Branch Library, reading a mixture of fiction and nonfiction. Past titles include Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimmerer and Cherokee America by Margaret Verble. Print copies are available for pickup at the O'Neill Branch Library. Learn Where to Turn Please join us! In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Cambridge Public Health Department in collaboration with the Community Safety Department, the Cambridge Public Library and Find It Cambridge will be sponsoring a panel discussion and tabling event. Come learn from our panel of local mental health providers as they discuss how to access support for yourself or a loved one and what to expect when reaching out. The event will take place on May 19th, 6-8pm at the Cambridge Public Library, main branch. Light refreshments and childcare will be provided.
