City of Cambridge Announces Increased Investment and Launch of 10th Participatory Budgeting Process
Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a democratic process that empowers community members to help decide how to spend part of a public budget. The City will allocate a record-high $2 million for this year’s process, which doubles the previous budget of $1 million. The PB outreach team will be collecting ideas from the Cambridge community through direct outreach in public spaces and at public events Sept. 11-Oct. 9, 2023.
Digital Equity in Cambridge Study: Data and Strategic Recommendations March 2021
The City of Cambridge commissioned this study to develop data and to develop strategies. At the highest level, the goal was to develop a full and clear understanding of all problems affecting residents’ ability to obtain and effectively use broadband—and to suggest a range of solutions. This study does not presuppose what the problems are or what the solutions should be. This study is about digital inclusiveness, or what the City of Cambridge has called “digital equity.”
Cambridge Awarded Three AAA Ratings for 25th Consecutive Year
The City of Cambridge has retained its distinction of being one of approximately 24 cities in the United States to earn AAA ratings from each of the nation's three major credit rating agencies. For 25 consecutive years, the City has received these noteworthy ratings annually from Moody's Investors Service, S&P Global Ratings, and Fitch Ratings.
Make Our Playgrounds Fun for All Ages Abilities
Add 4 inclusive elements to playgrounds as they are renovated, allowing people of all ages and abilities to interact with and enjoy parks and recreation areas and to encourage expanded funding of these elements in the future.
Benches for a Walkable City
There is strong evidence that benches are needed, especially along Mass. Ave. in North Cambridge. While there are some bus shelters along the way, the seating in these shelters is minimal, allowing two people at most to sit or one person with their bundles.
