The Cambridge Police Department announced the promotions of 11 members to Lieutenants and Sergeants on April 1, 2024. At a ceremony held in the Sullivan Chamber at Cambridge City Hall, City Manager Yi-An Huang and Police Commissioner Christine Elow promoted five officers to Lieutenants and six to Sergeants.

Cancelled: Monthly meeting of the Police Review & Advisory Board held virtually via Zoom to include an update from the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) at Cambridge Police Department and Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) about the case review process and updated officer guidelines for dealing with victims and survivors.

The Cambridge Public Library and the African Bridge Network (ABN) are offering an AI training for people looking for jobs. This training will teach you how to use AI tools safely and effectively to help with your career. Through the workshops, participants will learn strategies to: Find better ways to look for jobs Update and customize resumes for different positions Practice and prepare for job interviews Get help dealing with common challenges in today’s job market This is a six-part workshop series. Attend at least 4 of the 6 workshops and complete 4 of 5 assignments to earn a certificate and become eligible for a free refurbished laptop and Wi-Fi hotspot. In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 27-28. The Cambridge Fire Department has also issued a reminder about fire safety during the holiday.

Compensation is available for veterans who were injured on active duty or during a drill period.

This project will: Add separated bike lanes on Cambridge Street between Inman Square and Second Street, meeting the requirements of the City of Cambridge’s Cycling Safety Ordinance to build a network of separated bike lanes throughout the City; Make changes to the street to improve safety for all users, including for people walking, biking, taking transit, and driving; Construct new bus stops, with boarding platforms that extend further into the street, reducing bus delay and improving the experience of using and waiting for the bus.
