2024 Tax Rate Executive Summary
This Executive Summary, in response to City Council requests, summarizes information contained in the City Manager’s recommendations for the required votes by the City Council to establish the FY24 residential and commercial tax rates by the Board of Assessors and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. City Dance Party is Back Friday, June 23, 6-10 p.m. Note Mass Ave will be closed from Prospect Street to Lee Street.
The dance extravaganza with DJ spun music is a special opportunity for the entire Cambridge community to celebrate the start of summer. After dark, colorful lights will be launched, adding to the magic of the evening. New this year, the Cambridge Play Streets initiative and Central Square Business Improvement District will be providing free interactive activities for families at the corner of Temple Street and Mass Ave.
Cookbook Book Group (Collins)
July Selection: Ripe figs : recipes and stories from Turkey, Greece, and Cyprus by Yasmin Khan ; photography by Matt Russell. Join friends and neighbors for a potluck! Try a recipe and bring your results or thoughts to share and discuss with other cooks. All experience levels welcome. No need to bring a dish to join. Books will be available for pick up at the Boudreau and Collins Branches during library hours. This event will take place outdoors at the Collins Branch (64 Aberdeen Ave). War Memorial Family Swim
Beginning Tuesday, September 2, the War Memorial Recreation Center (1640 Cambridge St.) will reopen for programming and public swim for the fall season. This year, we are excited to offer free Family Swim through the month of September.

Staff Provide Help with Winter Heating Costs
Every year, the Fuel Assistance Program helps more than 1,200 residents in Cambridge and Somerville pay their winter heating bills between November 1 and April 30. Most residents don’t think about heating bills until temperatures drop, but for the staff managing this crucial service, planning for Fuel Assistance begins in the heat of the summer.
Sustaining Community: A Climate Change Book Group
The climate is changing, and we're all here on the planet together. Join us for a monthly community gathering and discussion of a variety of books about climate change. We will share thoughts, resources, and occasionally host special guests in a welcoming small-group environment. For our October meeting, we will discuss H is for Hope by Elizabeth Kolbert.
