The City of Cambridge completed a comprehensive planning study to develop a vision for Central Square, Kendall Square, and the area along Main Street connecting the two squares including the Osborn Triangle.

The pilot program, open to Cambridge residents ages 60 and older, will operate on Thursdays and Fridays from November 6, 2025 through January 16, 2026. During the pilot, the Russell Youth and Community Center (680 Huron Ave.) will be staffed and open from 9 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for older adults to participate in a selection of classes and to enjoy the building’s common area.

Join us for a lively discussion of a great book in person at the Main Library! Snacks will be provided. For ages 7-10 and a parent or caregiver. This month's book is Julieta and the Diamond Enigma by Luisana Duarte Armendáriz. When a diamond goes missing from the Louvre, it is up to nine-year-old Julieta to identify the thief, exonerate her father, and return home to Boston before her baby brother is born. Includes glossary of French and Spanish words and notes about the Regent Diamond, Athena, and works of art mentioned in the book. Both caregiver and child should read the book before the discussion to participate. Registration is required — only one registration is needed per family. The goal of MSYEP is to serve as a young person's first job experience and exposure to the world of work. The program is open to Cambridge residents ages 14 through the summer after completing high school. Teens are placed in public sector and non-profit jobs throughout Cambridge and in surrounding communities for six weeks during the summer.

The Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) will be vaccinating homebound residents once the vaccine is available from the state. Currently, CPHD is working with Cambridge Housing Authority, Cambridge Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Council on Aging, Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services, and other City departments to identify, screen, and register homebound individuals for their vaccines, and hopes to begin in-home vaccinations for those eligible sometime in April. This program is for people who would not otherwise be able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine unless they receive it in their home. It does not include individuals who are temporarily homebound; and/or able to leave the home with adequate assistance; or those who would prefer to get a vaccine in their home.

Build an amphitheater in Danehy Park for outdoor performances, music, stories, and other cultural events that the whole community can enjoy.

Earth Day is an annual celebration in April that honors the achievements of the environmental movement and raises awareness of the need to protect Earth's natural resources for future generations.

The Detail/Off-Duty Employment Office is responsible for assigning off-duty officers to construction sites throughout the City to ensure motor vehicle and pedestrian safety.
