Meeting minutes for the January meeting of the Cambridge LGBTQ Commission

The Affordable Housing Trust will hold its monthly meeting in-person and via Zoom webinar. July's meeting (previously scheduled for July 24) has been postponed to July 31, 2025 at 4 p.m. It will be held at City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave, in the Ackerman Room. Register to join the July 2025 Affordable Housing Trust meeting. The meeting agenda and meeting materials will be posted on the Affordable Housing Trust webpage.

The shelter, part of the Commonwealth’s Emergency Assistance Family Shelter system, is designed for eligible families in Massachusetts who are experiencing homelessness (eligible families must have children under 21 years of age and/or individuals who are pregnant) to stay while they work with case managers to find and move into stable, permanent housing.

This week's selection: Arthur Rimbaud, "The Drunken Boat," "Vowels," "Eternity," "Memory," "To a Reason," and "Dawn." Reading Interests: We concentrate on Great Books in the following areas: a long novel over the summer, two sections of poetry and short stories, a book of the Bible, a Shakespeare play, an ancient and modern drama, a work of science, a smaller work of fiction, an even smaller work of fiction, and a rotating mix of politics, philosophy, and religion. Authors read in the past five years include Dickens, Keats and Yeats, O'Connor and Munro, Ecclesiastes, Sophocles and August Wilson, Darwin, Austen, Duras, The Federalist Papers, and Arendt. How to get the print book: Copies of the reading are set aside at the Main Library. Visit the Main Library at 449 Broadway during current service hours and a staff member can help you get a copy. Harvard Book Store and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Kenneth Rogoff—Maurits C. Boas Professor at Harvard University and former chief economist at the IMF, long ranked among the top ten most cited economists—for a discussion of his new book Our Dollar, Your Problem: An Insider's View of Seven Turbulent Decades of Global Finance, and the Road Ahead. He will be joined in conversation by Gish Jen—acclaimed author of Thank You, Mr. Nixon. Registration is required.

Keep Cambridge healthy and extend play time by adding free sunscreen dispensers to city parks and playgrounds! This project will fund dispenser installation and ongoing maintenance for three years.
