The Capital Building Projects Department manages planning, design, and construction of a wide range and scale of projects across Cambridge's municipal building portfolio, including renovations and upgrades to Public Works facilities, youth centers, branch libraries, fire stations, and City offices.

The Department of Public Works (DPW) asks residents and businesses to help us collect leaves from sidewalks, streets and storm drains. Collecting leaves from the street helps our local and global environment by protecting our local ecosystem and fighting climate change.

Learn to fix your broken household items, such as electronics, appliances, clothing, and toys etc. at the Fixit Clinic. Volunteer Fixit coaches will review, take apart, and assist in repair attempts. Gain the confidence and knowledge to make repairs and teach others to do the same. This event takes place in The Hive, located on L1 of the Main Library. Open to all ages, registration is required. Established under state law in 1935, the Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) provides long-term rental housing and rental assistance to more than 10,000 low-income families, elders, and disabled individuals through its Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Programs.

The Cambridge STEAM Initiative is a joint venture between the City of Cambridge Department of Human Service Programs, the Cambridge Public School District, and the Cambridge Public Library. STEAM is an integrated approach to learning that uses any combination of STEAM areas of study - Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math - as access points for inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. Using a racial justice lens to frame all of its efforts, the STEAM Initiative works to ensure that Cambridge residents who are most impacted by systemic inequities have access to high quality STEAM programming, resources, and skill-building opportunities.

Take control of your high blood pressure and health: The Cambridge Public Health Department’s Healthy Eating and Active Living team is partnering with CHA’s Windsor Clinic to offer monthly walk-in education sessions on hypertension (high blood pressure) prevention and maintenance strategies.

Due to the weather, this program will happen inside the Peabody School gym. Please enter the gym through Door 8 on Haskell St. Put on your dancing shoes for an unforgettable workshop of hula hoop magic with Kat Suwalski! You will learn basic hooping moves while increasing hand-eye coordination, strength, balance, and agility. No prior hooping experience is required. Hoops are provided. Recommended for children ages 5 and up and their caregivers.
