Cambridge Public Health Department Issues Advisory on Protecting Yourself from the Omicron Variant
The rapidly spreading Omicron variant is expected to cause a steep increase in COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations in Massachusetts over the coming weeks. Activities that were thought to be reasonably safe for vaccinated people a few months ago now carry greater risk. Given the very high transmissibility of Omicron, the Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) urges residents to observe several recommendations.

The City's Office of Workforce Development, a part of the Department of Human Services Programs, is sponsoring a Government & Public Sector Job Fair at Cambridge City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave. Meet representatives from local employers and learn about their job openings. Positions include office, customer service, labor, transportation, child care and more.
Public Comment Session for Utilization of HUD Grants
The Community Development Department will hold an information and public comment session in preparation of the City’s FY2026 Annual Action Plan and FY2026-2030 Consolidated Plan. The purpose of the session is to solicit public comments on affordable housing, economic development, public service and other community development needs as they relate to low and moderate-income Cambridge residents, and HOPWA qualifying residents across Middlesex and Essex counties.

Cambridge Public Health Department Issues Public Health Warning
Avoid contact with the Alewife Brook in Cambridge due to potential harmful bacteria and other pollutants. Warning in effect until 5 a.m., January 28, 2023. People and pets should avoid contact with the Alewife Brook and parts of the Mystic River from January 26-28 due to the release of stormwater mixed with sewage into the brook.
