2025 Mt Auburn Street Closures
Due to structural concerns at 221 Mount Auburn Street (Riverview Condominium Building), the City of Cambridge will close segments of Mount Auburn Street and Sparks Street starting Saturday, July 19. Multiple detours and traffic changes will be in place to maintain the closure, which may last through the end of 2025.
Cambridge Honors Those Who Were Wounded or Died in Service to Our Country on National Purple Heart Day
Cambridge Veterans' Services and various City and State Officials held a special ceremony in honor of National Purple Heart Day on Wednesday, August 7, in the Sullivan Chamber of Cambridge City Hall. Speakers included Cambridge Mayor E. Denise Simmons, Cambridge Deputy City Manager Owen O'Riordan, and Deputy Director of Cambridge Veterans' Services Cynthia Harris. During the ceremony, City officials, speaking on behalf of the City of Cambridge, offered their deepest gratitude and heartfelt respect to those who sacrificed much in service to their country.

Baker-Polito Administration Announces Targeted Equity Partnership with Boston Red Sox/Community Partners, Allocation Update and Additional Sites on Pre-registration System
The Baker-Polito Administration announced “Red Sox Week” at the Hynes Convention Center to increase access to vaccines for disproportionately impacted communities. The Administration also provided an update on vaccine dose allocations for the week and announced additional regional collaboratives that will now be available for booking appointments on the Commonwealth’s pre-registration system.
City of Cambridge Reaches More than 7,000 Residents Via Senior Phone Outreach Initiative
Over the past three weeks, 20 employees with the City of Cambridge have contacted more than 7,000 senior residents throughout the community. This effort, which is being led by the City Manager’s Office, is intended to connect directly with seniors to determine if they have any questions, concerns or needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
