Roadway Preservation Work in Cambridge Week of September 8
The City’s Contractor, Indus, will conduct roadway preservation work the week of September 8. A truck will be spraying the roadway with a plant-based solution called Fog Seal. The solution goes down as a white, almost opaque spray, but once dry, it leaves a transparent “seal” over the pavement.
Huron Ave and Cushing Plaza Improvements Project
As part of the Five-Year Street and Sidewalk Reconstruction Plan, Huron Ave, from Fresh Pond Place to Fresh Pond Parkway, is scheduled for reconstruction. This project will include paving, sidewalk improvements and utility installations.
Cushing Plaza, located at Cushing Street and Huron Avenue, is scheduled for reconstruction to allow stormwater to infiltrate and provide enhanced biochar and compost soil for the new trees and garden plantings.
Installation of Bus Only Lane on River Street Coming Soon
As the River Street Reconstruction approaches substantial completion this fall, several traffic pattern changes will be taking effect. Over the next few months, workers will install new signage, paving and street markings, including a new dedicated bus-only lane. This work will happen in sections rather than all at once. At the end of construction, River Street will have sidewalks, a parking and loading lane, one general-purpose travel lane, a dedicated bus-only lane, and a sidewalk-level bike lane.
