She will be joined in conversation by Melissa Franklin—the Mallinckrodt Professor of Physics and Director of Graduate Studies at Harvard University. Registration is required.

Join the Cambridge Black History Project and the Cambridge Public Library in welcoming Warren Eugene Milteer Jr. for a reading and discussion of his new book, Out of This Strife Will Come Freedom: Free People of Color and the Fight for Equal Rights in the Civil War Era. The recipient of the Southern Historical Association’s Charles S. Sydnor Award for the best book in Southern history in 2022, Milteer will be joined in conversation by Susan Tomlinson, an associate professor of English at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Please join the Cambridge Public Library and the American Repertory Theater for an afternoon of Wonder! To celebrate the much-anticipated new A.R.T. musical "Wonder," we'll be watching the 2017 movie adaptation of R.J. Palacio's book. Enjoy the movie on the big screen in our Lecture Hall, then browse our display of related books. All attendees will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for four free tickets to a performance of "Wonder" at the A.R.T.

Design Your Own Space Mission Patch! Young space enthusiasts are invited to imagine and create their own space mission patch, just like real astronauts! Using circular templates, markers, and space-themed stickers, children will dream up their own space missions: Will they fly to Mars? Visit a distant galaxy? Search for alien life? Each child will choose a mission goal, name their spacecraft, and design a patch that tells the story of their adventure. As they draw, children will hear inspiring stories about real-life women astronauts, encouraging early interest in space careers and diverse role models in STEM. Finished patches will be displayed during the event to celebrate their creativity and curiosity. Recommended for children in grades K-5. This special activity is part of Massachusetts STEM Week 2025 and is organized by The Space Consortium, the local space education and outreach nonprofit behind Massachusetts Space Week (April 20-26 2026).

Immerse yourself in the magic and medicine of mint! Join herbalist Mo Katz-Christy at the O'Connell Branch Library for an hour and half of learning all about this powerful plant. We will connect with mint through smell, taste, drawing, science, and storytelling. Move beyond "mint for a stomachache" and learn all about the chemistry of why and how mint is able to have such a profound effect on our body.
