City Yard Waste Pickup Resumes April 3rd
The City of Cambridge offers residential curbside collection of Yard Waste from April 1 through December 31. Yard waste is banned from all landfills and incinerators in Massachusetts. This includes all leaves, grass, plants, shrub pruning and twigs. Place them on to the curb on your regular collection day by 7am or after 6pm the night before.
Central Square Bus Access and Circulation Study
The City of Cambridge hired a consultant to study the transit routing, circulation, and access for MBTA routes (1, CT1, 47, 64, 70, 70A, 83, and 91) around Central Square. The purpose of the study was to develop recommendations for reducing crowding for people waiting for the bus and to improve access to and circulation around Central Square.

Cambridge Rolls Out Support for Building Owners as Emission Requirements Begin
After years of research, planning, and community engagement, the City of Cambridge is preparing for new greenhouse gas emissions reduction requirements for large buildings to take effect beginning January 1. The Office of Sustainability is reaching out to property owners covered under the Building Energy Use Disclosure Ordinance (BEUDO) to help them understand and prepare for the new requirements.
Household Waste Collection Day Saturday November 5
The last Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day of 2022 for residents only will be held on Saturday, November 5, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., at 50 Mooney Street. Please enter the event via Smith Place off of Concord Avenue. The City’s Department of Public Works (DPW) and Cambridge Police Department will be on site to assist with traffic.
Early Voting Underway for the 2024 Presidential Primary
Any registered voter can vote early now through Friday, March 1, 2024 at 12 p.m. Unlike Election Day, you are not assigned to a polling location during the early voting period.

COVID-19 Case Increase in July
New infections among Cambridge residents have increased in July, with 83 confirmed and probable cases reported so far this month (July 1-20), according to the Cambridge Public Health Department. The City and the Public Health Department are closely monitoring COVID-19 case trends in Cambridge and the Commonwealth, and will continue to issue updates and critical information to the community.
