As part of our Black History Month celebration, the Peace Commission invites you to Step Into the World of Gospel Music through a special concert featuring the Millennium Gospel Choir, presented in partnership with the Cambridge Public Library. Gospel music is a foundational part of Black American history and culture. Emerging from the lived experiences of Black communities, gospel has long been a source of expression, resilience, storytelling, and collective joy. It has shaped American music far beyond church walls, influencing soul, jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and the popular music we know today. This concert is offered as a cultural and historical experience, highlighting gospel's role in the Black freedom struggle, community building, and artistic innovation. Through powerful vocals and rich musical traditions, the performance invites reflection on how music has carried hope, resistance, and connection across generations. Whether you are familiar with gospel or experiencing it for the first time, all are welcome to join us in honoring this enduring art form and its place in Black history.

Collaborate on a biodiversity banner to celebrate Moth Week with a sewing circle on July 11 and July 18. Wildlife Arts invites the community to hand sew blocks for a multi-moth fabric banner! We'll teach beginning sewers, and children old enough to handle a needle may work on caterpillar blocks (recommended for age 10 and up). You'll learn about moth biodiversity in Massachusetts and help publicize the humble and little-known world of moths. The banner will be displayed at the Cambridge Moth Ball on July 22 at Fresh Pond Reservation and will be available in the Wildlife Arts banner lending library when complete. All materials will be provided. Registration is suggested. You may attend one or both sessions. The City of Cambridge does not discriminate, including on the basis of disability. We may provide auxiliary aids and services, written materials in alternative formats, and reasonable modifications in policies and procedures to people with disabilities. On March 31, Governor Baker extended the stay-at-home advisory and non-essential business closure that was set to expire on April 7 until May 4, the same date that schools are to remain closed until. The 10-person limit on gatherings in the state has been extended as well, following a similar extension by the federal government.

The Community Development Department (CDD) partners with local businesses and organizations to sponsor free events in squares and neighborhoods across the city. Apply to receive reimbursement of up to $2,000 for eligible activities.

Install pedestrian crosswalk signals that vibrate with audio at 10 locations and rapid flashing beacons at 5 locations in Cambridge. This equipment will provide greater visibility and safety at crosswalks throughout the city.

The Baker-Polito Administration announced additional measures to address a recent rise in COVID-19 cases and to ensure acute care hospitals have sufficient capacity to care for both COVID and non-COVID patients.
