Trees provide many benefits like shade, wildlife habitat, and natural beauty. Trees also help with carbon storage, stormwater control, and improved air quality. This proposal will plant new trees in Danehy Park and other needed areas around Cambridge.

The City of Cambridge is taking another step toward reducing noise and air pollution by officially prohibiting the use of gas-powered leaf blowers and requiring all users to transition to electric or battery-powered leaf blowers. This initiative aligns with the city’s commitment to protecting public health and reducing harmful emissions.

Join the Central Square BID for a block party celebrating the launch of Central On Air, a new community-driven live streaming platform for DJs, musicians, and listeners alike. Central Square BID is kicking off the summer and unveiling Central On Air to the public for the very first time. The event is on Saturday, June 14th from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. in Lafayette Square, just steps from their new studio at 425 Mass Ave. Enjoy live DJ sets, local vendors, and a first look (and listen!) at their street-level studio and livestream platform. Fall season is in the air, here at the Library! This art class will be a hybrid of indoor and outdoor time. Allowing you to get up close with the trees and leaves to take artistic observations of your surroundings. All supplies will be provided but please bring any protective gear (long sleeves and sweaters) in the event of slightly cold weather. Registration is required.

Please join the Cambridge Public Library in welcoming Cristanne Miller, the co-editor of The Letters of Emily Dickinson, for a reading and conversation moderated by the Library's Program and Events Coordinator, Zachary Bond. Food trucks are an important and growing part of the Cambridge food businesses economy. Like farmers markets and open air festivals, food trucks offer new food businesses a relatively low-cost opportunity for testing menu items, building brand awareness, and growing a loyal customer base. Additionally, their “pop-up” style of operation introduces a playful element to public spaces that residents, workers, and visitors enjoy and appreciate as part of a high quality of life in Cambridge.

Families with elementary school-age children join us for hands-on activities focused on Science, Technology, Arts, Engineering and Math. Adults and children will learn and play together! In December, Science Heroes will present "Adventure of the Missing Color!" Through hands-on experiments and fun, interactive stories, kids will get excited about the science that’s all around us as we celebrate the scientists who color our world with art! Featuring amazing experiments all about: chemical reactions laws of motion air pressure and more!

Calling all middle grade readers! Meet up in the Curious George Room every third Thursday to eat pizza and talk about books with your friends. Each month’s book will be chosen during the previous meeting. We're starting off by reading Air by Monica Roe. Copies are available behind the Children's Desk Snacks are provided. This group is for ages 10-12. Participants should read the book ahead of this month’s meeting. Registration is required. Are you an intermediate or advanced sewer? This workshop will cover serger machine setup, threading a serger, and identifying correct tension settings with different types of fabric. You will learn about ways to use our Elna Extend 864 Air serger to take your sewing skills to the next level by producing special finishing styles, hemming, trimming and assembling your garments. This workshop is designed for patrons who have prior experience using a sewing machine to complete many types of fiber arts projects. If you are new to machine sewing, we recommend you take our Sewing 101 workshop before using our serger.
