Get creative at the Library and join us for a casual evening of art making. We'll have supplies for drawing and painting, calligraphy, collage, and more along with instructional books to refer to. Bring a friend and come share casual crafting time together. Attendees are welcome to bring their own projects as well.

Join us in the Lewis Room at the Central Square Branch for an introduction to mindfulness meditation followed by a guided practice session with instructor Zeenat. If you are curious or would just like to be in community, stop on by! Registration is required to attend this event! Biography: Zeenat Potia teaches meditation in Buddhist and secular spaces, and has taught at the Cambridge Insight Meditation Center since 2014. She practices vipassana at CIMC and the Insight Meditation Society, and has over 15 years of meditation training, including extensive silent retreat experience in the Early Buddhist tradition. Zeenat is committed to healing and recovery through trauma-sensitive mindfulness. She is an instructor for Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare’s Mind the Moment program and works directly with corporations, non-profit organizations and universities in the delivery of secular mindfulness programs. We're taking the month off, join us September 14th! A book discussion group for adults at the O'Neill Branch Library, reading a mixture of fiction and nonfiction. Past titles include Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimmerer and Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell. Print copies are available for pickup at the O'Neill Branch Library. This month's book selection is also available as a digital audiobook through Libby/OverDrive.

Come get creative at Collins! Join your neighbors at this casual, drop-in afternoon craft session for adults. Bring your own work-in-progress or join us for recycled paper crafting. No expertise required. Registration encouraged.

Design Your Own Space Mission Patch! Young space enthusiasts are invited to imagine and create their own space mission patch, just like real astronauts! Using circular templates, markers, and space-themed stickers, children will dream up their own space missions: Will they fly to Mars? Visit a distant galaxy? Search for alien life? Each child will choose a mission goal, name their spacecraft, and design a patch that tells the story of their adventure. As they draw, children will hear inspiring stories about real-life women astronauts, encouraging early interest in space careers and diverse role models in STEM. Finished patches will be displayed during the event to celebrate their creativity and curiosity. Recommended for children in grades K-5. This special activity is part of Massachusetts STEM Week 2025 and is organized by The Space Consortium, the local space education and outreach nonprofit behind Massachusetts Space Week (April 20-26 2026).
