This class will be delivered by a DOORS program instructor. Join us at the Central Square Branch Library for an informational session about kidney disease followed by a free kidney-focused screening and physician consultation. This program is in partnership with the Harvard Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program (KDSAP) whose mission is to provide kidney focused health screenings and health education to underserved communities. Explore our outdoor world, get creative, and make sun prints (aka cyanotypes) at the Central Square Branch. A selection of flora, other natural materials, and simple found objects will be available to create a collage and then print with the sun. Or bring your own materials! Participants will have the opportunity to display their work in the Branch during the month of August. In the case of rain or inclement weather, we'll be indoors doing botanical water colors.

Don’t think you have what it takes to use a sewing machine? Think again! In this FREE workshop, teens from the Cambridge Community Art Center will teach you how to properly thread a machine, sew a straight stitch, hem and unfinished edge, and secure your stitches. Practice by sewing colorful shapes onto small flags. Following the workshop, the flags will be made into a banner and displayed at the Library. No experience necessary.
