The City of Cambridge is excited to once again invite community members to vote on projects aimed at improving the city as part of the 10th Participatory Budgeting (PB) process. From March 7 to March 17, 2024, all Cambridge residents aged 12 and older, including all 6th graders and university students, will have the opportunity to participate.

Cambridge Fire and Water Departments will work together in this process. Engine 1 (Harvard Square area) and Engine 2 (Lafayette Square) will test in their districts first.

Pursuant to Chapter 2 of the Acts of 2023 adopted by Massachusetts General Court and approved by the Governor, the Cambridge Retirement System is authorized to use remote participation at meetings of the Board.

Join us on Zoom Tuesday, December 2 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM to formally launch the project, learn about plans from the project team, and ask questions.

Highlights include: Drainage improvements to the perimeter road at Fresh Pond at Glacken Slope, and completed Route 2 Bridge reconstruction and Rt. 128 resurfacing which included new best management practices.

The Urban Agriculture Task Force is developing an ordinance that includes 1) zoning to explicitly allow agricultural activities, and, 2) regulations to support and limit activities.

Overall, in FY24, the City is dedicating more than $60 million from a variety of sources to address affordable housing and homelessness. The fiscal year 2023 resulted in a number of key accomplishments.
