The Cambridge Police Department has a Family and Social Justice section that focuses on connecting with and directing resources to our most vulnerable populations. During the cold-weather months, this work is even more critical. FSJS builds relationships and trust all year to increase the chances our unhoused will consider assistance.

The Peace Commission pays special attention to traumatic events and violence affecting Cambridge and its residents, coordinating and supporting compassionate community responses to support recovery and healing. The program celebrates outstanding preservation projects that conserve and protect the historic built environment, provide skilled work to local designers and tradespeople, and support the environment, economy, institutions and housing stock of Cambridge.

Beginning July 20, 2026, residents who wish to schedule a mattress or box spring collection through UTEC will pay a portion of the collection and recycling cost, while the City will continue to subsidize the remainder.
